Biologi adalah ilmu alam yang berkaitan dengan studi tentang organisme hidup dan kehidupan, termasuk struktur, fungsi, pertumbuhan, asal, evolusi, distribusi, dan taksonomi. Biologi adalah subjek yang luas yang mengandung banyak subdivisi, topik, dan disiplin. Di antara topik yang paling penting adalah lima prinsip pemersatu yang dapat dikatakan sebagai aksioma dasar biologi modern, yaitu :
  1. Sel yang merupakan unit dasar dari kehidupan
  2. Spesies baru dan ciri-ciri warisan merupakan hasil dari evolusi
  3. Gen merupakan unit dasar hereditas
  4. Sebuah organisme mengatur lingkungan internal untuk mempertahankan kondisi yang stabil dan konstan
  5. Organisme hidup mengkonsumsi dan mengubah energi.
Untuk meningkatkan dasar pemahaman terhadap biologi tentunya banyak cara yang harus dilakukan diantaranya membaca literatur, melakukan penelitian dan lain sebagainya.
